The Client

NoBlue2 is a leading company in the UK that provides Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions – software platforms used by businesses to manage and integrate the core aspects of their operations, such as finance, supply chain, manufacturing, HR, and more. With a longstanding relationship with The Digital Maze we were the perfect partners to manage their website migration.

The Challenge

NoBlue recently rebranded to NoBlue2, which involved a new brand identity, website, and a domain migration to their new URL. To make things a touch more complicated, they were actually merging three brands/websites into one… At such a pivotal moment for the brand, the migration posed a critical SEO challenge with plenty of risks, including lost rankings, traffic drops, and de-indexed pages.

As any good SEO professional knows, a poorly executed migration can severely impact search performance, including:

  • Lost Search Equity: Ensuring backlinks and rankings transfer properly.
  • Redirect Issues: Incorrect or missing 301 redirects can cause ranking drops.
  • Indexing Problems: Search engines must quickly recognise the new domain.
  • Traffic Fluctuations: Minimising disruptions and ensuring a smooth recovery.

Our Approach

Having worked with NoBlue as their trusted SEO partner for many years, we have built a strong relationship and a deep understanding of their site. This foundation allowed us to approach the migration with confidence, ensuring a smooth and successful transition.

Key steps included:

  • UX and SEO Audits: We conducted a comprehensive UX audit of NoBlue’s previous website to identify areas for improvement, ensuring a better user experience on the new site. Alongside this, a detailed SEO audit helped us pinpoint any technical issues, content gaps, and opportunities for optimisation, pre-migration.
  • Site Architecture & Design: With a focus on both user experience (UX) and SEO, we redesigned NoBlue’s website architecture to ensure it was not only intuitive for visitors but also SEO-friendly. This made sure that both the new and old site structures were well understood, enabling us to preserve SEO value during the migration.
  • Redirect Strategy & Technical SEO: We implemented a comprehensive 301 redirect strategy to preserve existing rankings, backlinks, and traffic while ensuring that the new site was fully optimised for search engines. We also focused on key technical SEO factors, such as XML sitemaps, robots.txt, and canonical tags, to ensure smooth crawling and indexing of the new domain.
  • Post-Migration Monitoring: After the migration, we closely monitored the site’s performance, addressing any indexing issues or technical errors promptly. This proactive approach allowed us to ensure that visibility remained stable and that any minor issues were resolved quickly.

The Results

Following our website migration, organic traffic remained stable, ensuring no immediate loss in search visibility. Over the next few months, traffic experienced an impressive 100% increase, all while our visibility remained stable. This growth highlights the success of our migration strategy, demonstrating strong technical SEO performance and the long-term benefits of a well-executed transition.
