0 radiiFree UK and Ireland radius map for PPC, SEO and local marketing
A radius map shows you every place within a fixed distance of a central point. It is one of the most useful planning tools for geo-targeted PPC campaigns, local SEO landing pages, service-area businesses, delivery zones and franchise territory planning. This free UK and Ireland radius map tool from The Digital Maze lets you drop a pin in Great Britain, Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, draw a radius up to 100 miles, see every UK postcode district, Eircode routing key and major town inside, and export the result in the exact format Google Ads expects for location targeting. Everything runs in your browser. No sign-up, no API keys, no data leaves your device.
How to use the radius map
- Find your centre point. Type a UK postcode (NG1, DE1 2BH), an Eircode routing key (D02, T12, A65), or a town name in the UK or Ireland and hit Find. Or click anywhere on the map to drop a pin.
- Set the radius. Drag the slider or switch between miles and kilometres. The radius redraws on the map as you change it.
- Read the output. The postcode districts and towns inside the radius update automatically, along with the lat/lng coordinates and area covered.
- Add more radii. Drop additional pins to compare territories, plan multi-location campaigns or model overlapping service areas.
- Copy or download. Use the Google Ads format to paste straight into a campaign's location targeting. Or download CSV/GeoJSON for use elsewhere.
What is a radius map useful for?
Google Ads geo-targeting
Google Ads lets you target by radius around a point. This tool gives you the exact lat, lng:radius format ready to paste into the location settings, saving you the back-and-forth of dragging Google's own circle picker.
Local SEO planning
Planning a local SEO build with location pages for nearby towns? Pull the list of towns inside a sensible service radius and you have your URL set ready to brief content production.
Service-area businesses
Plumbers, electricians, mobile mechanics, vets. Define exactly how far you will travel and which postcode areas qualify, then use the output across your Google Business Profile, ad targeting and quote tools.
Delivery and catchment areas
Ecommerce with same-day delivery, restaurants, click-and-collect. Visualise the catchment area, list the postcodes, then feed that data into shipping rules or location pages.
Multi-location campaign planning
Franchises and multi-branch retailers can plot every location with a radius around each, spot coverage gaps and overlaps, and split PPC spend by territory.
Audience and market sizing
Combine a radius with town-level data and you have a rough audience size for a new location, a media buy or a pitch. A starting point for proper market sizing rather than the final answer.
How to use radius targeting in Google Ads
Inside Google Ads, location targeting accepts a radius around any point. The format is latitude, longitude:radius, where radius is in the unit you choose (miles or kilometres). For example, 52.9225,-1.4746:10mi targets a 10-mile radius around Nottingham city centre. Paste a list, one per line, and Ads will set up the targeting in seconds.
A few things worth knowing:
- Use 'People in or regularly in your targeted locations' for most local campaigns. The default ('Presence or interest') will show ads to people elsewhere who searched for your area, which usually wastes budget.
- Combine radius with location exclusions if you want to carve a doughnut shape, e.g. target a 30-mile radius around Derby but exclude central Birmingham.
- Smaller radii usually win on ROAS. Bigger radii get more impressions but the conversion rate usually drops faster than the cost does. Test tight radii first.
- Match radius to fulfilment. If you only deliver 15 miles, do not target 30. Sounds obvious but it is one of the most common audit findings on small accounts.
Eircode routing keys explained
The Republic of Ireland uses Eircodes rather than the UK postcode system. Every Irish address has a unique 7-character Eircode (e.g. D02 XY45). The first three characters are the routing key, which identifies a geographic area — broadly equivalent to a UK postcode district. There are 139 routing keys covering the whole country: Dublin uses D01–D24, Cork uses T12–T56, Galway is H91, and so on.
This tool includes centroids for all 139 routing keys, so when you draw a radius anywhere on the island you get a clean list of every routing key inside it. That list pastes straight into Google Ads location targeting for Ireland — Google accepts Eircode routing keys as named locations. Full Eircode lookup (the 7-character version) requires the commercial Eircode Address Database, which is out of scope for a free tool — search by town name or routing key instead.
Radius vs polygon vs postcode targeting
- Radius is simplest. One point, one distance. Best for service-area businesses centred on a single location.
- Polygon (custom shape) targeting is supported by some platforms via uploaded GeoJSON or KML. Useful when your service area follows roads, rivers or council boundaries rather than a clean circle.
- Postcode targeting uses the postcode districts directly. More precise than radius for businesses that work strictly within named areas. Pair the postcode list from this tool with Google Ads' postcode targeting to get a postcode-aligned version of your radius.
